That’s right. It’s not an airplane with a gun. It’s a gun with an airplane attached. Is that the most ‘Murica shit ever or what. 

It fires 30x173mm cartridges so quickly (4,200/min) that the aircraft and its pilot can only tolerate short bursts of two or three seconds. Any longer than that and you have to start worrying about barrels overheating, the recoil slowing the plane down to unsafe airspeed, and steering, since the weapon is mounted off-center to accommodate pesky things like landing gear.
